Russia is aiming to launch a military recruitment campaign for the spring, targeting 160,000 young men aged between 18 and 30, as per a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin on Monday. The army has confirmed that new recruits will not be sent to Ukraine, where Russian soldiers have been fighting since February 2022. This campaign will take place twice a year, in spring and fall, starting today, according to the presidential decree published on Monday. The next recruitment campaign is unrelated to the military operation in Ukraine, as stated by the Russian Defense Ministry.
