Algerian media reports indicated that this call came after intensive coordination with the Arab Group in New York, which agreed on the need for swift action in light of the increasing Israeli military operations inside Syria and their negative implications on regional security. The session is expected to take place on Thursday, April 10, after necessary arrangements are made with the Council's rotating presidency. In a statement on behalf of the Arab Group, Algerian Ambassador to the United Nations, Ammar Benjamia, expressed grave concern over the continued Israeli airstrikes targeting sites within Syrian territories, in addition to Israeli statements about plans to establish a "demilitarized zone" in southern Syria. The ambassador emphasized that these actions constitute a blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty, threatening its territorial integrity, and called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities to halt these violations that contradict the principles of the United Nations.
