A workshop titled "Promoting Decent Work in the Garment and Textile Sector" was launched today, Sunday, at the Cham Hotel in Damascus, organized by the International Labour Organization in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The workshop aims to facilitate an effective dialogue among representatives from the public and private sectors, workers, and employers to develop a roadmap that supports the garment and textile sector and enhances its competitiveness, thereby creating decent employment opportunities within the value chains of this vital sector.
The workshop sessions also address areas of future cooperation, particularly related to supporting the textile industry in Syria, in addition to monitoring the "Weaving Hope" project, which the International Labour Organization plans to implement in partnership with UNIDO and local entities to improve livelihoods and locally develop the textile industries.
