Preparing for exams requires going through piles of study notes, which can be overwhelming.

However, breaking the monotony and engaging in a study session that doesn't involve reading can be achieved through trying the following eight techniques, as published by the "Times of India" newspaper.

1. Video Summaries

Short animated videos break down complex topics into bite-sized visuals.

Skipping textbooks and quickly grasping basic concepts can be done through online educational video platforms.

2. Flashcards and Visual Cues

Using flashcards with only images, diagrams, or flowcharts - no text.

This technique helps link the mind with visual elements and concepts, making recall faster and easier. Digital flashcard tools designed for this method can be tried.

3. Audio Learning

Listening to audio broadcasts, podcasts, presented by experts on the study subject.

Exploring audio broadcasting platforms for specially designed educational content to cater to students' needs.

4. Learning through Social Media

Short videos on social media platforms explain complex topics in 60 seconds.

Following creators who visually explain topics - no reading required, just quick and engaging learning.

5. Interactive Applications

Using educational apps helps learning through games and problem-solving. Interactive learning makes studying fun and effective without relying on textbooks.

6. Note-Taking

Students can express their understanding of a topic and record it instead of taking notes.

Audio recording or dictation tools can be used to capture spoken summaries and listen back to facilitate review.

7. Group Discussions

Experts recommend joining study groups and discussing topics aloud.

Verbal exchange enhances understanding without reading. Collaborating with peers to share knowledge and deepen understanding.

8. Memory and Imagination Technique

Students can close their eyes and imagine a chapter or a concept. Or say the chapter or concept aloud to enhance recall without notes.

Practicing before sleep allows the mind to reinforce memories during sleep.
