Veteran Egyptian Artist Lotfy Labib Passes Away After Long Battle with Illness

Veteran Egyptian artist Lotfy Labib passed away after his health deteriorated, where he died in a hospital after a long period of struggle with illness. The artist Munir Makram, a member of the board of the Acting Professions Syndicate, confirmed the news in a post on his personal Facebook page.


Ashraf Zaki, the head of the actors' syndicate in Egypt, revealed yesterday, Tuesday, that Labib returned to the intensive care unit due to his deteriorating health condition, saying: "Artist Lotfy Labib is in critical condition, and we urge everyone to pray for him." Zaki added that the artist needed urgent medical intervention, indicating that his health condition was being closely monitored by the medical team.


The deceased was one of the prominent figures in Egyptian drama and cinema, where he participated in more than 100 films and 30 TV works, collaborating with major stars such as Adel Imam, with whom he co-starred in the film "The Embassy in the Building", where Labib played the role of "the Israeli ambassador" remarkably. He also stood by a new generation of actors such as Ahmed Mekky and Mai Ezz Eldin, supporting them in their early artistic careers.


Among his notable TV works was his collaboration with the artist Yahia El-Fakharany in the series "Adel Emam's Genies" and "The Happy Man". His last appearance was in the film "Marai Al-Primo" (2023) alongside Mohamed Henedy and Ghada Adel.


In recent years, the late artist suffered from recurring health crises that affected his artistic presence, but he remained the focus of attention for his audience who followed his news anxiously. His career was crowned with a rich artistic legacy, leaving it behind to remain immortal in the memory of Egyptian art.
