The US Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, said today, Sunday, that the United States is close to reaching several trade agreements before the July 9 deadline when high tariffs will go into effect, expecting several major announcements in the coming days.

Mnuchin also told CNN that the Trump administration will also send messages to 100 countries with which the US does not have significant trade deals, notifying them that they will face higher tariffs initially set on April 2 before being suspended until July 9.

He said, "President Donald Trump will send messages to some of our trading partners, saying if you don't move forward, we will return to the tariff levels set for you on April 2 by August 1. So, I think we will quickly see many agreements being made."
