Sources in the Russian Investigative Committee reported that the Russian Transport Minister, Roman Starovoit, committed suicide following his dismissal from his position earlier today by presidential decree.

The Investigative Committee stated: "Investigation agencies in Moscow region are working to determine the circumstances and reasons for the death, with the main scenario indicating suicide."

Sources revealed to RT that Starovoit was to be arrested this evening on charges of financial corruption and embezzlement.

Starovoit's body was found with a gunshot wound in his personal car in the Odintsovo area of Moscow region, with a personal pistol, awarded to him by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2023 for his efforts to the state, found at the scene.

Earlier today, President Vladimir Putin issued a decree relieving Roman Starovoit from his position, which he had held since last May.

Following the presidential decree, his deputy, Andrei Nikitin, was appointed as the Acting Transport Minister.
