Unprecedented threats.. The Israeli army lifts protection from the Chief of Staff after an attack on his home

The Hebrew newspaper Ma'ariv revealed that the Israeli army decided to enhance security measures around Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and several of his senior officers, following the escalation of threats and protests against him, which peaked with an assault on his home on Thursday evening.
According to the report, protesters poured red paint on the walls of Zamir's house and its sidewalk, at a time when he was busy leading military operations in Yemen and monitoring a sensitive intelligence event.
The army clarified that the "violent rhetoric" directed against the Chief of Staff and other senior officers, including Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot, comes from multiple parties; from the right and far-right, through the far-left, to some Haredi circles.
The army's personal security unit is conducting an assessment to tighten protection around Zamir and the targeted senior officers, amid growing concerns about the escalation of threats and their transformation into a direct danger to their lives.
For his part, Defense Minister Israel Katz condemned the assault, saying: "This is crossing the red line.. The Chief of Staff works day and night to protect Israel, and I expect the perpetrators to be punished to the fullest extent."
