The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed today, Tuesday, that there are no plans to close the Azraq and Zaatari refugee camps for Syrian refugees in Jordan. According to "Al-Mamlaka" channel, the UNHCR stated in a post on its digital platforms that global funding levels for the agency are lower than in previous years, which may lead to some program reductions and changes in service delivery methods in most countries where the agency operates, including Jordan. The UNHCR added: "While we recognize that this decrease in funding affects the services we can provide to you as refugees in Jordan this year and beyond, at present, we do not have final information on these changes." Earlier, the UNHCR mentioned that 55,732 Syrian refugees registered with them voluntarily returned from Jordan to Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, until April 12, 2025.
