UN Report: Syria has lost around 800 billion dollars of its GDP over 14 years.

A report issued by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) titled "The Impact of Conflict in Syria: A Devastated Economy, Widespread Poverty, and a Challenging Path to Social and Economic Recovery" revealed that Syria lost approximately $800 billion of its GDP over 14 years of war, leading to a catastrophic deterioration of the national economy. The report emphasized the need to accelerate economic growth in the next decade to achieve recovery and restore economic stability in the country.
The report addressed the social and economic repercussions of the Syrian war, explaining that the 14-year conflict has set back economic and social progress in Syria by about 40 years.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that Syria's GDP decreased by 50% during the war years, while the poverty rate rose from 33% before the war to 90% currently. Extreme poverty increased to 66%.
The report also stated that 75% of the population is in need of humanitarian assistance, ranging from healthcare, education, jobs, food security, water, energy, and shelter.
The report mentioned that energy production in Syria declined by 80%, with 70% of power generation stations being damaged, resulting in a 75% decrease in the national energy grid capacity. It emphasized that the Syrian economy would need 55 years to reach pre-war levels if the current growth rate of 1.3% continues.
