UN report paves the way for US moves in the Security Council: No active relationship between the Syrian state and "Al-Qaeda"

Amid Western and specifically American movements to lift all sanctions on the Syrian state, including Syria's classification as a "state sponsor of terrorism," an unpublished report issued by UN sanctions monitors reveals that reviews conducted during the first half of the current year did not detect any "active relationships" between the Syrian government and "Al-Qaeda." This conclusion could pave the way for an expected American move to lift the UN sanctions imposed on Syria.
Reuters, which reviewed a confidential copy of the report, reported that the document covers the period up to June 22nd of last year and relies on contributions and assessments from UN member states.
The report indicated that UN-designated terrorist organizations, such as "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham," currently have no active connections with "Al-Qaeda," in the absence of any indications of coordination or mutual support between the two parties.
