The Turkish Presidency Denies Reaching an Agreement to Establish Military Bases in Syria

Recently, the Turkish newspaper Aydınlık reported that Turkey and Syria are set to sign a military cooperation agreement by the end of August, which states that the Turkish side will assist the new Syrian authorities in forming the army and training military personnel. However, a source in the Turkish presidency stated that there is currently no information regarding the expected Turkish military agreement.
The Turkish newspaper also reported that Turkey intends to establish three military bases on Syrian territory.
But the source in the presidential administration said: "We do not have such information."
It is worth mentioning that earlier, the official Anadolu Agency reported, citing the Turkish Ministry of Defense, that Syria officially requested assistance from Turkey in enhancing its defense capabilities and combating terrorists.
