The Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Ongu Kuchali said on Saturday that the recent steps taken by the United States and the European Union to lift sanctions on Syria are welcomed.
Kuchali added: "These measures are of great importance to efforts aimed at achieving stability and security in Syria."
He pointed out that Turkey, through its institutional capacity and the pioneering strength of its private sector, will continue to support steps that contribute to economic development in Syria in cooperation with all countries open to cooperation.
It is worth mentioning that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received today at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul the Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara and a government delegation including his Foreign Minister Asad Al-Shibani, and Defense Minister Marhef Abu Qasra, to discuss a number of common files according to the Syrian Presidency channel on Telegram.
