In a move that sparked controversy within American political circles, US President Donald Trump decided to exclude the National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard from the decision-making circle, following what he considered a "misleading" statement regarding the Iranian nuclear program.
According to American media reports, the decision came after Gabbard testified before Congress last March, confirming that intelligence reports do not indicate any evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.
These statements contradicted Trump's belief that Tehran may be just weeks away from possessing a nuclear bomb.
Informed sources told The Washington Post that the President decided to exclude Gabbard, along with Defense Secretary Ben Higgin, from sensitive discussions related to Iran and Israel, preferring to rely on a select elite of advisors and ministers whom he sees as more aligned with his vision at this stage.
This exclusion coincided with Trump's move towards making a fateful decision within two weeks regarding the US joining Israeli military strikes against Iranian targets.
Gabbard's office had tried to ease tensions by issuing a previous statement indicating that Gabbard and Trump agreed on their assessment of the Iranian nuclear program, but her public statements before Congress were considered by the President as "inaccurate assessments," affecting the White House's confidence in her.
These developments come amid escalating regional tensions, with Iran still a focal point of precise American security policies, amidst increasing talk of possible strikes and secret negotiations about the future of Iranian leadership, as revealed by various reports.
