Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi today discussed the situation in Syria with the US special envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack, especially the ceasefire agreement in Sweida.

Jordanian media reported that the two sides discussed efforts to stabilize the ceasefire in the province of Sweida, and the need to implement it to protect Syria, its unity, and its citizens, ensuring the state's sovereignty and law, protecting civilians, and stopping Syrian bloodshed.

Safadi emphasized his country's full support and solidarity with the security and sovereignty of Syria and the integrity of its territories, stressing that its security and stability are essential for the region's stability.

Safadi condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria and interference in its affairs as a clear violation of international law and Syria's sovereignty, threatening its security, stability, and unity.

Safadi also highlighted the crucial role played by the United States in reaching a ceasefire and ensuring the security and stability of Syria.

On his part, Barrack stated on the platform: 'We are taking positive steps to support a unified and stable Syria living peacefully with its neighbors,' affirming that Jordan plays a pivotal leadership role in the region.

Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Republic announced a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire, calling on all parties to abide by it.

In recent days, Bedouin tribes and armed groups in the province of Sweida clashed, resulting in numerous casualties.
