"Three Months" .. Damascus Forms Committee to Investigate Sweida Events

After the bloody events witnessed in the Sweida province, amidst the chaos of information and its contradictions, the Syrian Ministry of Justice decided to form a special investigation committee for the recent events in Sweida, to identify the parties and entities involved in the violations against the citizens in the province.
The decision stated: "Based on the provisions of the Judicial Authority Law issued by Legislative Decree No. 98 of 1961 and its amendments, and the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 9 of 2025, and the directives of the Presidency to commit to revealing the truth and ensuring accountability, and the requirements of national interest, it is decided to form a committee to investigate the recent events in Sweida".
The committee, according to the decision, consists of judges: Hatem Al-Naasan, Judge Hassan Mohammad Al-Hamwi, Judge Maysoon Hamoud Al-Taweel, and Judge Jamal Al-Ashqar. In addition to Colonel Muhyiddin Hirmoush, and lawyers Tarek Al-Kurdi and Amar Azzeddine.
The committee's tasks include uncovering the circumstances that led to the events in Sweida, investigating the assaults and violations suffered by the citizens, and referring those proven to be involved to the judiciary.
The committee submits periodic reports of its work, according to the decision, with the requirement to present its final report within a period not exceeding three months from the date of its formation, with the right to seek assistance from experts, specialists, and relevant authorities.
