The Umayyad Mosque Administration Issues a Statement Following the 'Driving Video'

The administration of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus issued an official statement after a video circulated on social media showing a man driving his car inside the mosque's courtyards, which sparked outrage among activists.
The mosque administration stated in its statement today, Saturday, that "the entry of vehicles into the mosque courtyard is only permitted in cases of necessity and for work purposes, and only after obtaining prior approval."
The administration clarified that "we were surprised by the person filming the video in a provocative manner and posting it on social media, which does not reflect the truth and is not in line with the sanctity of the place."
The Umayyad Mosque administration concluded its statement by affirming its "full commitment to serving the houses of God and their visitors" and called on everyone to "exercise caution and not be swayed by rumors or news that may cause confusion."
The video showed a man driving his car inside the corridors of the Umayyad Mosque, while a group of worshippers and visitors were in the background, which intensified the controversy surrounding the incident.
