UAE launches project to establish a desalinated water pipeline from Egypt to southern Gaza

The UAE has started implementing a qualitative project to supply desalinated water from a desalination plant in Egypt to the Al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza Strip, in a step aimed at alleviating the severe water crisis faced by the residents of the Strip, especially in the displacement areas south of Khan Yunis and Rafah.

The project includes the construction of a 6.7-kilometer pipeline with a diameter of 315 mm, connecting the Egyptian desalination plant to southern Gaza areas, targeting the provision of about 15 liters of water per person daily, serving approximately 600,000 people.

The equipment is being transported through the Kerem Shalom crossing, amidst strict security measures and in coordination with the relevant authorities. Israeli media outlets have indicated that the project is being carried out with the approval of the Israeli political level, which has approved the entry of the necessary equipment for its implementation.

This project is part of the UAE's humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting the residents of the Gaza Strip amidst the deterioration of living conditions and the worsening of basic needs, especially in the water and sanitation sectors.
