The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has established a new department within its structure called the "General Secretariat for Political Affairs." The ministry stated in its decision today that the General Secretariat will oversee the management of political activities and events within the Syrian Arab Republic, organizing them in accordance with regulations and laws, as well as participating in formulating policies and general plans related to political affairs. According to the decision, the General Secretariat will work on reutilizing the assets of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, the Progressive National Front parties, and their affiliated dissolved organizations and committees, to serve political and national responsibilities. The decision also mentioned that the General Secretariat for Political Affairs has an independent budget within the overall budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is subject to the supervision of relevant oversight bodies. The ministry further explained that the establishment of the department was based on the requirements of political work and the highest national interest, aiming to achieve the highest standards of organization, within the framework of developing and updating the work structure and political efficiency in the new phase, and enhancing the role of official institutions.
