Druze Spiritual Leadership Calls for Ceasefire and Renewal of Commitment to Humanitarian Values and Wisdom

The spiritual leadership of the Druze community issued a statement today, Saturday, July 19, calling for an end to the ongoing clashes in the province of Al-Suwayda, reaffirming its readiness to cooperate with all honorable parties to cease fire and resort to rational dialogue instead of violence.
The statement read: "After all this pure blood shed on our land, we renew our call today to resort to our humanity, and extend our hand to deal with every honorable person to end the current clashes, stop the gunfire, and resort to the voice of reason, wisdom, and humanity, not to weapons and chaos."
The spiritual leadership pointed out that the members of the well-known community (Druze) have always been a symbol of harmony and humanity throughout history, affirming that "the mountain has always been a refuge for every oppressed and fearful person," and that they have never been advocates of division or sedition.
This statement comes in the aftermath of deadly clashes that took place in the province of Al-Suwayda between armed Bedouin tribes and other armed groups, resulting in casualties and the displacement of a large number of civilians.
