Red Cross Mission Continues Humanitarian Efforts in Sweida, Syria in Coordination with Syrian Authorities

Stefan Sakalian, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross mission in Syria, confirmed that the organization continues its cooperation with the Syrian authorities in Damascus and all active parties in the Sweida province to enhance humanitarian response.
This came during a statement to "SANA" agency, where Sakalian pointed out the committee's readiness to continue working to alleviate the recent events' impacts on the affected communities in the province.
He added: "A team from the International Committee joined the Syrian Arab Red Crescent relief convoys that entered Sweida on Monday, July 28, as part of joint efforts to support affected families and secure their basic needs."
He explained that the team's visit enabled them to assess the field situation more accurately, and expand the intervention scope to address urgent needs, noting that the team included experts from various specialties to conduct a comprehensive assessment, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, which continues its work despite the difficult challenges.
Sakalian pointed out that the team held meetings with families, community activists, and health personnel to identify the most urgent priorities.
It is worth mentioning that the Syrian government, following the ceasefire agreement in Sweida on July 19, started sending humanitarian aid convoys in partnership with the Red Crescent, international organizations, and the local community. So far, four convoys have been dispatched, including food, medical supplies, and fuel, as part of a rapid response to the conditions of the affected people.
