The president performed the Fajr prayer at one of the mosques in Mezzeh.
In a surprise visit, the acting Syrian Prime Minister, Ahmed Al-Shar'a, attended a mosque in Al-Mezze neighborhood in Damascus this Sunday, March 9th, where he performed the Fajr prayer with the worshipers.
After the prayer, Prime Minister Al-Shar'a delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of preserving national unity and civil peace in Syria, urging Syrians to have confidence in the future of their country.
He affirmed that Syria possesses the capabilities to overcome current challenges, pointing out that the revolution that started from mosques will not be a source of fear but a testament to the Syrian people's resilience.
Al-Shar'a reminisced about his memories in the mosque he used to frequent 20 years ago, recalling the difficult circumstances surrounding worshipers at that time.
He said: "One of the greatest moments in my life... It's strange to leave a neighborhood or a mosque 20 years ago, we used to pray in this mosque and look around, afraid, every day expecting to be imprisoned or pursued."
He added: "We chose a path... that our promise would be in Damascus, we left Damascus to return to it again, and thanks to Allah, the Most Gracious, honored us."
Regarding the recent events in Syria, Al-Shar'a called for maintaining national unity and civil peace in the country, reassuring Syrians that Syria possesses the elements of survival, dignity, and honor.
The Syrian President stated that what is happening in Syria currently is within expected challenges, and as long as the revolution emerged from these mosques, there is no fear for Syria, affirming that the Syrian people are capable of overcoming hardships and achieving stability.
