Lebanon's Foreign Minister, Youssef Riachi, stated that the Lebanese government is reviewing all agreements with Syria, including the Lebanese-Syrian Higher Council. Riachi emphasized that "Lebanon's decision is to amend or cancel these agreements," noting that "anything in Lebanon's interest will remain, while anything unjust or forcibly imposed on Lebanon will be reconsidered." Riachi clarified that "serious and legal discussions with Syria on these issues have not yet begun due to the recent formation of the Syrian government and the Lebanese government just two months ago." He added that "the Lebanese-Syrian Higher Council is no longer needed due to the new relations between the two governments, with embassies and specialized ministers overseeing all common issues between the two countries." Yesterday, SANA reported that "the Syrian President received a phone call from the Lebanese Prime Minister congratulating him on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wishing Syria and its people more stability and prosperity." During the call, they discussed "ways to enhance bilateral relations in various fields," emphasizing "the importance of mutual cooperation for the benefit of both the Lebanese and Syrian peoples."
