EU Calls on Israel to Stop Its Strikes on Syria and Warns of Threat to Transitional Process

The official spokesperson for the European Union, Anwar Al-Anouni, emphasized the need for Israel to immediately stop its attacks on Syrian territories, warning of their repercussions on civilians and political stability in the country.

According to a statement carried by the Qatari News Agency: "We urge Israel to immediately cease its strikes on Syrian territories, including key institutions in Damascus, which endanger the lives of civilians and could threaten the transitional process in Syria".

Al-Anouni added: "We call on Israel and all other foreign actors to ensure respect for the sovereignty and safety of Syrian territories", affirming that the European Union "condemns any violation of the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Syria".

Al-Anouni also issued a call to the Syrian authorities, saying: "We also call on the Syrian transitional authorities to contain the escalation in As-Suwayda in the south of the country".

This comes one day after the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, expressed his concern about the Israeli shelling on the capital Damascus, emphasizing the importance of respecting Syria's sovereignty and the safety of its territories.
