The former official at the U.S. Department of Defense, the Pentagon, "Lawrence Korb," expressed his opinion stating that the American withdrawal plan from Syria might fail. He also suggested the possibility of a partial reduction of forces while keeping a portion of them until the crisis in northeastern Syria is fully addressed.
In his remarks, "Korb" clarified that President Donald Trump and his administration are aiming to show that America should decrease its involvement in Syrian affairs, in line with his electoral promises.
"Korb" also expressed his belief that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) do not have the capability to address the increasing security concerns due to the multiple challenges and obstacles they face, including their existential crisis with Turkey, international disagreements regarding the role of the Kurds, and the ongoing threat posed by ISIS.
