The Turkish-American Working Group is discussing in a meeting hosted in Washington tomorrow the mechanism for lifting US sanctions on Syria, as well as ensuring security, stability, preserving its territorial integrity, and other issues. According to Anadolu Agency, sources at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today that the meeting, jointly chaired by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nooh Yılmaz and his American counterpart Christopher Landau, is held in the format of an interinstitutional meeting between the two countries. The meeting is expected to address the priorities of both Turkey and the United States in their policies towards Syria, as well as exploring opportunities for cooperation to achieve security and stability in Syria. Among the key issues on the meeting's agenda are combating ISIS and other terrorist organizations, as well as discussing regional efforts led by Turkey recently and the support provided to the new Syrian administration in the fight against ISIS. According to sources, the mechanism for lifting US sanctions on Syria will be discussed, along with the timeline and steps to be taken in this regard. Yılmaz is expected to emphasize during the meeting the importance of multidimensional coordination between Turkey and the United States in political, economic, and security fields to ensure security and stability in Syria by preserving its territorial integrity and unity.
