Tesla announces plans to launch a self-driving "Robo Taxi" service in Austin.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced the company's intention to launch a self-driving taxi service (Robotaxi) to the public starting from June 22, with the service commencing in Austin, Texas, as mentioned in a post on "X" platform.
Musk emphasized that the company will "exercise extreme caution regarding safety," indicating that the date may change if any concerns arise. Starting from June 28, Tesla cars will be able to autonomously drive to customers' homes directly after manufacturing.
The trial service is set to begin with a limited number of 10 to 20 Model Y cars, operating within a specific geographic area and under remote supervision. Tesla aims to expand the service to other U.S. states, including California, known for its strict regulations on self-driving vehicles.
The project faces significant challenges, including safety concerns, strict regulations, and high costs, casting doubt on Musk's plans. Nevertheless, this project remains central to Tesla's strategy, especially amidst declining electric vehicle sales due to fierce competition and political controversies surrounding Musk's stances.
Musk revealed that Tesla had been testing its self-driving cars on Austin roads, sharing a video showing a Model Y car making a turn at an intersection without a driver, bearing the "Robotaxi" logo. He added that the vehicles use an enhanced version of the "Full Self-Driving" system.
