Ter Stegen responds to Barcelona's claims that he is hindering the club's ability to register new players

The club asked Ter Stegen to sign a medical report stating that he would be absent for a long period, allowing them to utilize 80% of his salary until mid-season and comply with the financial fair play rules in La Liga.
However, Ter Stegen's announcement, at the age of 33, via social media that he would be out for only three months raised the club's management's concerns, as La Liga regulations require a player to be sidelined for at least four months for the injury to be considered long-term.
Ter Stegen said in a statement on his Instagram account a day after the club's decision to strip him of the team captaincy, "The decision to undergo surgery was made after consulting with medical specialists and with the club's full approval."
He added: "Furthermore, I clearly stated the minimum recovery time I would need afterward, which I was informed of by most of the leading experts and this was always coordinated with the club."
