The Syrian Arab Red Crescent sent 10 trucks carrying humanitarian aid to Daraa province today, Saturday, as part of its humanitarian response to the southern region and the urgent needs of families affected by recent events.

The organization stated in a statement on Telegram that the trucks, which arrived today in Daraa, add to another 7 trucks that arrived, making a total of 17 trucks covering the needs of around 5000 families who were displaced from Sweida to shelters or host communities. It also mentioned that the organization is preparing to send a similar convoy to Sweida province in the next two days.

The statement mentioned that the 17 trucks include medicines, medical supplies, water tanks to support vital services in gathering places, in addition to 7000 kg of flour to support bakeries, 4600 food baskets, and 10000 water bottles.

The organization also noted that this aid is being sent with the support of the Embassy of Qatar, the Qatari Red Crescent, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the German Red Cross, the World Food Program, and UNICEF.

The organization added that the Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams continue to assess the readiness of shelters in Daraa province, including 12 centers in the eastern countryside and one center in the western countryside, to identify needs and ways to secure them.

It is worth mentioning that the Qatari Embassy in Damascus announced today the dispatch of 7 trucks carrying food aid to Daraa province in response to the displacement crisis from Sweida province, in coordination with the Qatari Red Crescent and in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
