Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara is making diplomatic efforts to hold a meeting with Trump.

The American newspaper Wall Street Journal revealed, citing Syrian officials, that Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar'a is seeking to arrange a meeting with US President Donald Trump during his upcoming visit to the Gulf region.
The meeting aims to discuss Damascus's vision for rebuilding Syria through a plan inspired by the "Marshall Plan," led by former US Secretary of State George Marshall to rebuild Europe after World War II.
The report indicated that Al-Shar'a's plan prioritizes American and Western companies in reconstruction projects, in a move to strengthen strategic relations with Washington at the expense of China's growing influence in the region.
In a related context, the newspaper quoted the US National Security Council confirming that any support or easing of sanctions imposed on Syria is contingent on the behavior of the interim Syrian government, noting that Washington has presented clear conditions to Damascus that must be met before any positive steps are taken.
The report also highlighted that Al-Shar'a has begun a series of quiet steps to enhance rapprochement opportunities with the United States, including enhancing security cooperation by pursuing foreign militants and engaging in indirect contacts with Israel through mediators to calm tensions on the borders.
The Syrian President also expressed readiness to open the energy sector to American investments, as he recently met with Jonathan Bass, the CEO of Argen Gas Company and a close associate of Trump, to discuss opportunities for developing the Syrian energy sector in partnership with Western companies.
These moves come in conjunction with statements by Al-Shar'a during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, where he affirmed that indirect negotiations with Israel aim to "stop violations and achieve stability," indicating that Damascus is engaging with all parties capable of pressuring Tel Aviv to stop its attacks on Syrian territories.
