Director of the Syrian Network for Human Rights Calls on the Government to Hold Accountable Those Responsible for Violations on the Coast

The director of the Syrian Network for Human Rights, Fadel Abdul Ghani, called on the Syrian government to take immediate steps to pursue and hold accountable those responsible for the violations that occurred on the coast, based on the report of the National Committee for Investigation and Fact-Finding in the events of the Syrian coast.
Abdul Ghani emphasized, in a televised speech, the necessity of judicial independence and compensating the victims, pointing out that what happened sends an important message regarding the current situation in Sweida.
Abdul Ghani expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the investigation committee in the events of the coast, describing it as "commendable" and "good," and confirming that it is the "first national experience and expertise" in this context. Although he did not review a written copy of the report, he listened to the press conference and the outputs, considering that the committee "did a good job with reasonable and good standards."
At the same time, Abdul Ghani noted that the report's findings did not bring any significant new information, as they almost align with what the Syrian Network for Human Rights has previously published and what is circulated and known.
He said that even Reuters' report reached similar conclusions, pointing out that the Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the killing of 125 people on the first day of the events, an announcement that at the time caused a "stir against the network."
