The Syrian Ministry of Information denied on Sunday, June 29, the reports circulated by some media outlets and activists regarding an assassination attempt on Syrian President Ahmed Shar'a during his visit to Daraa province, confirming that these reports are "not true".

A source at the ministry, as reported by the official Syrian news agency SANA, said: "All that has been circulated is untrue", without providing any additional details about these reports.

This denial came after reports spread in the media and social networking sites indicating that the Syrian army and Turkish intelligence thwarted an attempt to target the president during his visit to the province.

The source called for "accuracy and not to fall for malicious rumors aimed at destabilizing stability", according to the source.
