Syrian Ministry of Higher Education Postpones Preparatory Year Exams in Medical Colleges

The Syrian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today, Sunday, the rescheduling of the second semester exams for the academic year 2024-2025 for preparatory year students in medical colleges.

The ministry specified in its circular that the exams will start on Saturday, August 2, 2025, until Saturday, August 30, 2025.

According to the announcement, senior students taking second semester courses will sit for exams along with new students, but they will be placed in separate rooms from the new students.

The number of preparatory year students in medical colleges in Syrian universities is about ten thousand male and female students.

The preparatory year for medical colleges (medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry) was adopted as a second criterion for university admission in addition to the general secondary school certificate average for the academic year 2015-2016. It has become a centralized and standardized exam for each semester as approved by the Higher Education Council, and it is considered one of the student's academic years.
