Syrian Transport Minister Discusses Technical Cooperation with a Delegation from Saudi Consulting Company "STC"

During the meeting held at the General Establishment for Road Transport in Damascus via video technology, mechanisms for updating the traffic counting system were reviewed to include vehicle classification, speed measurement at specific points, and determining the weights of passing trucks, aiming to support maintenance plans and future planning of the road network.
Minister Badr emphasized the need to establish a permanent counting system operating around the clock, through fixed monitoring devices linked to the traffic management center, contributing to improving the quality of data and continuously analyzing it to determine the level of road service and make precise technical decisions.
On the other hand, Deputy Director of STC, Dr. Hossam Abdel Gawad, highlighted the importance of introducing smart camera technologies and their applications for vehicle classification and tracking with high accuracy, noting their role in providing comprehensive traffic data that enhances planning efficiency and traffic control.
This step comes within the framework of the comprehensive national plan adopted by the Syrian Ministry of Transport to modernize the road infrastructure, develop traffic monitoring systems, and enhance technical cooperation with regional partners, contributing to rehabilitating the public road network and achieving its sustainability.
