The Syrian Minister of Justice, Mazhar Al-Weis, said today, Wednesday, "We are experiencing these difficult moments with hearts filled with sorrow and pain for what has happened and is happening in our beloved country in the past days. These are moments in which we witness events marred by serious violations committed by lawbreakers".

In a post on the "X" platform, Al-Weis added: "If it were not for the grace of God first and then the measures taken by the state under the leadership of President Ahmed Al-Shar'a in confronting these challenges and working to extinguish the sedition, the situation would have spiraled out of control, and the fires would have almost consumed everything".

Al-Weis continued: "After urgent and mobilized measures, the state reached a ceasefire in As-Suwayda and calm in the areas to rescue the innocent detainees, secure their release, and start the entry of humanitarian aid in preparation for the return of state institutions, the consolidation of security, and the protection of all citizens. Soon, the horrors and tragedies left by those events began to unfold".

The Minister of Justice said: "What we have witnessed unequivocally proves that the only solution is to follow the path of the state of law and justice, which is the greatest guarantee of stability in the country".

He also affirmed that the state's initial commitment to this and its statements, declarations, and the presidency's call for a fact-finding committee on the events in the coast, announcing the results of its work, disclosing the truth to the public, and answering inquiries, all confirm this commitment.

He added: "Despite our sorrow for the victims, our heartfelt condolences to their families, and our prayers for them and for our country for security and peace, we will not allow their blood to be shed in vain. Every person proven to be involved will be held accountable, and those who violate the law will not escape punishment. The hand of justice will reach the criminals sooner or later, and these events will serve as an incentive for all of us to prevent the recurrence of the tragedy".

Al-Weis concluded by saying: "Based on our national and ethical responsibilities, we will continue to work with all relevant authorities within their mandates to fulfill this commitment with all the strength and determination we have in accordance with the prevailing laws".
