Syrian Minister of Information Discusses Cooperation with German Center Specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Combating Misinformation

During his visit to the "iRights Lab" research center in Berlin, Syrian Minister of Information, Dr. Hamza Mustafa, met with the center's director, Philipp Otto, and a number of researchers specializing in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance mutual cooperation, especially in the areas of combating misinformation and hate speech using artificial intelligence technologies, in addition to promoting responsible media content. The discussion also touched on the ethical challenges arising from the use of artificial intelligence in fact-checking and monitoring digital content.
Dr. Mustafa emphasized the "importance of building partnerships with advanced research institutions to benefit from their expertise" and invited the center's management to visit Syria to explore practical cooperation opportunities in this vital field, which has become one of the most prominent tools of influence in public opinion.
This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Minister's participation in the International Media Forum in Bonn, held on the 7th of July, with representatives from governments and international media institutions.
Previously, the Minister met with members of the Syrian community in Berlin, including journalists, academics, and professionals, in an open dialogue discussing media issues and the current Syrian situation.
