Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Syria, Abdul Salam Haykal, met today, Monday, with the Charge d'Affaires of the German Embassy in Damascus, Margarete Yakob, to discuss enhancing cooperation in the telecommunications and information technology sector, serving common interests and supporting digital transformation efforts. Ambassador Yakob affirmed the German government's commitment to continue supporting the Syrian people, noting that Germany has received the largest number of Syrians and remains committed to its humanitarian obligations towards them. The German Ambassador explained that the transitional phase in Syria will open up new prospects and pose challenges that require mutual cooperation between the two countries, reiterating Germany's readiness to provide necessary support to enhance stability and development in Syria. Minister Haykal outlined the ministry's vision for achieving digital transformation and developing infrastructure, highlighting that the sanctions imposed on Syria hinder effective digital transformation.
