The Syrian Meteorological Authority warns of the continuation of a severe heatwave until the end of the week

The Syrian General Directorate of Meteorology issued a warning about the continuation of a severe heatwave across the country until Friday, August 15, 2025, urging citizens to take precautions.
According to a bulletin published by the directorate on its official "Facebook" page, coastal areas and mountainous elevations will experience temperatures ranging between 34 and 38 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in the eastern regions, the island, and the desert will reach high levels of 45-48 degrees Celsius, while the interior regions will record rates of 42-45 degrees Celsius.
The directorate added that the western regions will experience high humidity levels that increase the feeling of heat, along with active winds due to strong downdrafts, which may cause thunderstorms and random rain showers, especially in the southern regions, the Qalamoun mountains, the central area, and the coastal elevations.
The General Directorate of Meteorology urged everyone to follow safety procedures, emphasizing the necessity of taking precautions to avoid any health risks or damages that may arise from these harsh conditions.
