In a new step to enhance cooperation between Syria and Jordan in the energy sector, Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad Al-Bashir announced an agreement with the Jordanian side to increase the quantities of natural gas sent to Syria through Jordanian territories, supporting the needs of the Syrian energy sector thirsty for support.

It was revealed that a grant provided by the World Bank to rehabilitate the electricity interconnection line between the two countries, paving the way to supply Syria with Jordanian electricity in the future.

Minister Al-Bashir explained that the discussions covered vital files, including the gas, electricity, and water sectors, indicating the formation of joint technical committees to study water agreements, including the Yarmouk Basin Agreement, in the context of seeking to regulate the use of water resources between the two countries.

The Syrian Minister also mentioned meetings with Jordanian companies operating in the renewable energy sector to explore opportunities to transfer Jordanian expertise to Syria and discuss the possibility of joint investment in this promising sector, given Syria's need to develop its energy infrastructure after years of challenges.
