Syrian Interior Ministry spokesperson denies reports of an alleged security campaign targeting foreign fighters in Idlib and Hama.

The spokesperson of the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Nour al-Din al-Baba, denied today, Friday, the rumors circulating about a security campaign targeting foreign fighters in Idlib.

The newspaper "Al-Watan" quoted al-Baba as saying: "In response to the alleged security campaign targeting foreign fighters in Idlib and Hama, and linking some of them to events on the Syrian coast, the Ministry of Interior clarifies the following: There is absolutely no truth to the misleading news circulated in this context, and no entity affiliated with the Ministry of Interior or its security institutions has carried out such a campaign."

He added: "Moreover, linking the names of detainees to previous security events on the Syrian coast is not based on any accurate or reliable data."
