Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khateeb said today, Thursday, that "since receiving the report on the case of the young man Abdulqader Al-Thaljah, I have personally followed up on the matter, and ordered the arrest of the patrol leader and accompanying elements pending investigation".
In a post on the "X" platform, Khateeb added: "An official apology has been offered to his family, with an emphasis on holding anyone accountable for any violations according to the law".
Videos circulating on social media platforms showed the violent arrest of Al-Thaljah, sparking a wave of condemnation among activists and human rights defenders calling for the disclosure of the circumstances of the arrest and holding those responsible for the arrest incident accountable.
