Minister of Health, Dr. Musab Al-Ali, met on Tuesday with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation "GIZ" led by the Director-General at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Christine Totskih, to discuss ways to enhance mutual health cooperation and the possibility of establishing investments and partnerships in the health sector. Dr. Al-Ali highlighted the challenges facing the health sector, such as shortages in equipment, medications, workforce, and emphasized the ministry's efforts in renovating facilities, maintaining medical equipment, securing quality medications, capacity building, training, and preparing a health map for sustainable financing and health insurance, as well as medical partnerships with German universities and hospitals to develop healthcare professionals' expertise. Dr. Al-Ali stressed the importance of direct cooperation with the ministry post-sanctions on Syria, benefiting from the rich German experience in the health sector. The delegation expressed readiness to collaborate with the ministry, assess the essential needs of the health sector, and emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts to improve the health sector and address deficiencies for recovery.
