The official spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, Nouraldin Al-Baba, announced on Saturday the establishment of the Border Guard Directorate, responsible for ensuring the safety of Syria's land and sea borders, combating illegal activities, coordinating with neighboring countries, especially in combating drug and human trafficking networks, and terrorist groups. During a press conference today, Al-Baba also mentioned the establishment of the Road Security Directorate, tasked with protecting major roads, highways, international roads, airport roads, as well as critical communication, information, and energy lines nearby. Additionally, a Special Tasks Directorate has been created, comprising multiple highly trained units with distinctive specifications to address risks such as riots, hostage situations, and safeguarding major events, as stated by Al-Baba.
