The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed its regret and concern today, Monday, over the recent escalation in Sweida.
The ministry added in a statement: "The competent authorities worked to contain the tension and quell the sedition, during which the security forces were ambushed and subjected to kidnapping operations".
It affirmed its commitment to the choice of wisdom and self-restraint, calling on all parties to stop and resort to reason.
It emphasized that the issue of bearing arms must remain under the authority of the state alone.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its call for all countries to respect Syria's sovereignty and refrain from supporting any rebellious or separatist movements.
The ministry also expressed gratitude in the statement to the countries that stood by it in these circumstances.
It added: "Syria reaffirms its keenness to protect the Druze community and respect its rights".
