Syrian Energy Minister: Azerbaijani gas will supply the country with 3.4 million cubic meters daily

In a significant economic development aimed at empowering the Syrian state, the regional gas transport line connecting Syria to Turkey was inaugurated today, with the presence of Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad Bashir, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, and representatives from the Qatar Development Fund.
Minister Bashir revealed that the arrival of Azerbaijani gas to Syria via Turkey will supply the country with 3.4 million cubic meters of gas daily, praising Qatar's assistance in this regard.
He added that with the start of gas flow through the Kilis-Aleppo line, the initial supply will be 3.4 million cubic meters of gas daily coming from Azerbaijan through Turkey, "as part of a generous assistance provided by our brothers in the State of Qatar."
Bashir told the SANA news agency: "This quantity will enable us to increase energy production by 750 megawatts, which will directly reflect on improving electricity supply by adding about four additional hours of operation daily, which will support the wheel of development and stimulate industry and the economy."
He said: "Deep thanks to the partner countries in this achievement, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Qatar, for their supportive brotherly positions towards Syria."
Bashir emphasized that the Ministry of Energy "will work on purchasing and securing additional quantities of gas in the upcoming phase to enhance generation capacity and achieve further improvement in service.
