The telecommunications company "Syriafone" issued an official statement announcing the suspension of its services in the northwestern regions of Syria, addressing its subscribers accordingly.

The statement read: "With deep regret, we inform you that the company will cease providing Syriafone services," adding that for authorized distributors, "SIM cards will be returned to distributors with reimbursement for each SIM card."

The company explained the procedure for dealing with authorized distributors, where SIM cards available with them will be returned with financial compensation, and immediate suspension of top-up operations. As for subscribers, all packages will remain active until their expiration date.

The statement also mentioned the possibility of replacing "Syriafone" chips with "MTN" chips at designated company locations.

It is worth noting that "Syriafone" obtained a license from the General Telecommunications Establishment in 2022 to provide services in northern Syria.

On another note, Anas Hassani, the Marketing and Public Relations Manager at "MTN," revealed an expansion plan that includes operating 16 communication towers in Idlib province within a month and a half, covering areas like Dana, Maarat Misrin, Ariha, Sarmada, and Duwar al-Mutanabi in Idlib city.

Hassani added that the second quarter of this year will focus on enhancing the network through additional towers to ensure broader coverage.

Additionally, "Syriatel" activated the towers of "Hanano" and "Al-Thawra," with plans to increase the number of towers and rehabilitate the service center in Idlib.

This comes after the restoration of communication and internet services in Idlib city, where both "Syriatel" and "MTN" began operating their towers after an interruption of over 9 years. The city witnessed a gradual launch of both networks' services in the province last Sunday evening.
