The Syrian government has suspended the first scheduled flight of the Turkish low-cost airline "AJet" to Damascus, which was supposed to take place on April 21st. Reliable sources informed "Middle East Eye" that the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority canceled the AJet flight, as well as subsequent flights planned by the company, indicating that Damascus has stipulated allowing Syrian airlines to operate flights to Turkey on a reciprocal basis as a condition to resolve the crisis. Syria demands that Ankara grant Syrian airlines the right to use Turkish airspace, similar to what Turkish airlines enjoy. It is worth mentioning that Turkish Airlines currently operates seven weekly flights to Damascus, while no Syrian airline, whether national or private, is allowed to operate flights to Turkey.
