The International Committee of the Red Cross announced in an official statement that it has successfully repaired a damaged transformer at the "Babiri" pumping station in Aleppo province, as part of an urgent response in collaboration with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the electricity transport and distribution company, and the General Authority for Land Reclamation. The statement explained that the "Babiri" station is the main source of drinking water for approximately 3.2 million people in Aleppo province, and also contributes to irrigating over 65,000 hectares of agricultural land in populated areas, the southern plains of Aleppo, Tadef, and Al-Bab. This makes it a vital infrastructure not only for providing water to families but also for ensuring the continuity of agricultural and food activities in rural Aleppo. The committee emphasized that this urgent intervention "will help stabilize the flow of water for families, farmers, and communities in Aleppo and its countryside," enhancing water and economic stability in the region suffering from repeated infrastructure crises due to years of conflict.
