The Syrian President, Ahmed Al-Shar'a, issued a decree appointing the Minister of Finance, Mohammad Yasser Barnia, as the Governor of the Syrian Arab Republic to the World Bank.

The decree, numbered 69 for the year 2025, states, "Mr. Mohammad Barnia, Minister of Finance, is appointed as the Governor of the Syrian Arab Republic to any legal entity affiliated with the World Bank Group."

It is worth mentioning that on May 23rd, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shibani, met with representatives from the World Bank to discuss expanding areas of cooperation and establishing a long-term partnership framework.
