The Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad al-Shaaban, met today with a South Korean delegation led by Oh Jong Kim, the Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs at the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the aim of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Minister al-Shaaban welcomed the Korean delegation, emphasizing the importance of enhancing mutual cooperation to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Syria and South Korea, in order to achieve the common interests of both countries and ensure security, prosperity, and peace for the Syrian people.
On her part, Oh Jong Kim affirmed South Korea's keenness to reinvigorate diplomatic ties with Syria after a prolonged hiatus, emphasizing support for the reconstruction of Syria, enhancing the political process and economic recovery, and providing necessary humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.
Oh Jong Kim announced her intention to provide food aid and support to the health sector in Syria, in addition to offering urgent assistance according to critical needs.
At the end of the meeting, Oh Jong Kim encouraged Korean businessmen to visit the Syrian market and participate in it, stressing the importance of easing sanctions imposed on the Syrian people to enhance trade and economic exchange between the two countries.
